Happy 3rd Quarter and beyond. If you need the Hazlas sentences from exam week, they are posted under Quarter 2.
semanas en casa (weeks at home)
Updated 4-12... for classes from home April and beyond...
We are no longer using Seesaw, as the district has advised Schoology.
And I am emailing regular updates. However, I thought I'd post our general schedule here.
Our weekly schedule for online class community activities:
Regularly scheduled school days:
Monday 1:30 Quizlet Live
Tuesday 1:30 Quizlet Live
Wednesday 1:30 Weekly class Zoom --this is the one I hope all can attend for the meat of our lessons
Thursday 1:30 Quizlet Live
Friday 1:30 Zoom game (pictionary so far)--this won't be scheduled on May 1st as it's a half day Friday
(The students chose 1:30 as a good time for our class to meet during a Zoom in March with over half of the class's participation.)
We also have a weekly Quizlet due on Mondays as always.
In Schoology I post a daily activity that shouldn't take very long for regular class days as well. The Schoology activities generally include:
a few sentences, pronunciation practice, what to prepare for the Wed Zoom, more practice, and Friday chistes (jokes)
I'm marking anything completed as excused and I'm also marking comments. Comments can be seen on individual work submissions or from the grade tab.
We are doing a graphing project with comparison sentences for May 13th. The students are going to come up with a Spanish question to see what the most popular answers are. They can be opened ended or ask what other students prefer of 3 or more different choices. Everyone has to ask a different question. Some questions have been posted in our discussion already on the main materials page.
Due dates:
May 1st: post the question you are going to graph by May 1st on the discussion board.
May 6th: Answer everyone's questions on the discussion board by May 6th, so they can graph their results.
May 13th: Students will share their graphs and 3 comparison sentences about their graph data.
Wishing you all good health!
Updated 3-27-20
I hope everyone is staying healthy and safe, and hopefully enjoying extra time at home.
Since I've been sending regular emails and posting on SeeSaw I haven't posted here during our at home weeks, but I decided to post this.
Remember, now is a good time to finish late work because partial credit is better than no credit.
I'm also posting daily activities on Seesaw and we've been playing daily Quizlet Live games, I sent the code via email every day.
We did our first zoom on Friday 3-27-20. I'm glad that a lot of you could show up and I hope to see more of you at our next zoom.
Our Next Zoom will be at 1:30pm on Wednesday, April 1. Check your email and Seesaw on how to prepare as we will be playing "the mystery object" game where everyone will give clues for a mystery object and we will have to guess what it is.
We will play Quizlet Live at 1:30 on Monday and Tuesday. Please practice the last 3 Quizlets I have posted.
Please check your emails.
The welcome letter from Seesaw is also below with the code to resign in if you no longer can. Or I can reset your password for you. (Just send me an email request)
Also the last 2 Seesaw jokes are attached below...They use new chapter 10 vocabulary from the 2nd section...You can email me what they mean if you can't log onto Seesaw.
I hope everyone is staying healthy and safe, and hopefully enjoying extra time at home.

la semana del nueve de marzo (The week of March 9)
Our quiz is Monday.
Below are the plans for our short week this week. The Quizlet is a lot of terms and there is vocabulary homework as well, but you have a long time to do it. Work on it Tuesday during your day off or your half day Thursday if you don't have time after school. We don't have class Tuesday or Thursday this week.
Students who are at NJHS on Friday still have to turn in the Hazlas that are due on Friday (drop it off before your meeting) and do the joke...See the plans below for the joke, and ask me any questions about the joke on Monday if you didn't understand it from the notes on the slides. It would be a good idea to study the vocabulary for the Quizlet due on Monday extra as we worked on Quizlet in class.

la semana del dos de marzo (The week of March 2)
Hazlas are due Wednesday this week instead of Thursday
The study guide is due Thursday, and our final Ch 9 assessment (until the final exam) is on Monday March 9th due to the snow day. (It is posted below in case you lose it.)
The plans for this week are posted below. Those who went on the field trip last Friday need to turn the Hazlas in with the joke from last Friday... See the plans under la semana del veinticuatro de febrero to do the Hazlas joke--the second screen for Friday offers explanation of the joke, but you still have to translate it.

la semana del veinticuatro de febrero (The week of February 24th)
The plans for this week are posted below. Those going on the field trip on Friday will need to see the plans to do the Hazlas joke.
Your true diary sentences are due on Tuesday, 2-25. Unfortunately, I noticed I forgot to put to check that you used at least one reflexive verb on the checklist, thought it is listed on the directions, so I made a new improved form of the rubric below. In class on Monday, I'll make sure everyone adds about the reflexive verb on their checklist copy. However, you should always read the whole rubric careful to make sure you follow it.

la semana del diez de febrero (The week of February 10th)
This week is short as you have your field trip Thursday and we have a half day Friday.
You had a Quizlet due on Monday and another one is due on Wednesday. They should help you study for your test that is also on Wednesday. The adivinanzas quizlet would also be helpful practice, but I haven't formally assigned it.
Hazlas are also due on Wednesday as you'll be on your field trip on Thursday.
Over break, the assignment is 5 10-word true sentences using the preterite again. You may want to review with preterite Quizlets.
If you don't want to write your sentences over break, you can do them before break to write about anything you or your family did from Monday Feb 10- Feb 14th. As they aren't due until the 25th, you can also write about anything that you did over break or on Monday Feb 24th. We'll play bingo with sentence information again on Tuesday.
The plans for the week, the study guide for the Wed 2-12 Quiz, and the rubric for your February sentences due on the 25th are below:

la semana del tres de febrero (The week of February 3rd)
We will practice with past tense on Monday, but then this week's focus is on present tense and we will learn the present progressive to tell what someone is doing right now, using the -ando and -iendo endings that are like our -ing ending in English.
We will have a quiz before break on Wednesday 2-12-20 on present tense (including the present progressive), vocabulary 1 and 2 from chapter 8 and DOPs.
